LG Refrigerator Doesn’t Refrigerate
Has your refrigerator stopped getting the job done? It only needs to accomplish a single thing — keep food cold. When it fails at that, your ’fridge just turns into a giant waste of money! Food spoils faster, drinks become lukewarm, and ice cream never freezes. Although LG refrigerators in French door and side-by-side models are commonly mentioned in connection with this issue, similar designs by other manufacturers are equally problematic. Fortunately, River City Appliance has the solution for you when it comes to working on any make of refrigerator.
What’s a Compressor?
The refrigerator needs a part named the compressor. As the name suggests, it pressurizes the liquid that makes the refrigerator work. A thermostat turns a compressor on or off, based on the internal temperature of the fridge. If the compressor becomes weak, your refrigerator gets warmer, no matter how much you modify the thermostat.
Normally, a refrigerator compressor should last about ten years. Whenever the refrigerator coils are left really dusty or the refrigerator is in a tight spot with little airflow for the heat made by the compressor to dissipate, then the appliance is likely to die after only five to seven years. Consistent cleaning of the coils and keeping airflow near the refrigerator may help it last from fifteen to twenty years.
When Compressors Go Kaputt
A busted compressor requires replacement, but cooling issues can also be caused by a faulty thermostat, failed fridge seals, or an evaporator leak. LG underwent a class-action lawsuit over compressor problems with its French door and side-by-side units manufactured between 2014 and 2017. Because this is commonly a sign of a troublesome manufacturing run, leading to many house calls, River City Appliance has a large number of LG refrigerator parts and compressors to meet the demands of our Loomis customers.
