LG Refrigerator Cooling Issues
Has your refrigerator quit getting cold? Is it warm at best? Does your food perish quickly? Is your freezer rarely frosty? These are all signs of a failing ’fridge, but it can be repaired. LG ’fridges in the French door and side-by-side models are famous for having this difficulty, but other makers also report troubles. River City Appliance has the solution for you if your refrigerator does not stay chilly.
What’s a Compressor?
A refrigerator needs a part called the compressor. As the name suggests, it compresses the liquid that makes your refrigerator work. A thermostat turns the compressor on or off, based on the internal temperature of the refrigerator. If the compressor becomes weak, a refrigerator gets warm, no matter how much you adjust the thermostat.
Normally, a refrigerator compressor should endure approximately ten years. Whenever the refrigerator coils are left especially dirty or the fridge is in a close area with little air for the heat generated by the compressor to dissipate, then the unit is likely to quit working right after only five to seven years. Consistent cleaning of the coils and keeping airflow near the refrigerator may help it last from 15 to 20 years.
When Compressors Quit Working Correctly
A busted compressor needs changing, although cooling problems might also be caused by a leaking evaporator, a faulty thermostat or failed fridge seals. LG experienced a class-action lawsuit over compressor problems with its side-by-side and French door units made between 2014 and 2017. As this is usually a sign of a prone-to-trouble manufacturing run, leading to many house calls, River City Appliance stocks a considerable supply of LG refrigerator compressors and parts to meet the demands of our Rio Linda customers.
